3 ahli Geng Minyak ditembak mati

BEBERAPA anggota polis memeriksa kereta Proton Waja digunakan tiga penjenayah yang ditembak mati di Jalan Kerjaya, Glenmarie di Shah Alam semalam.

SHAH ALAM - Tiga lelaki termasuk seorang yang berusia 16 tahun hanya sempat melarikan barangan hasil samun daripada sebuah stesen minyak sejauh dua kilometer sebelum ditembak mati oleh polis di Jalan Kerjaya, Glenmarie di sini pagi semalam.

Kumpulan penjenayah rakyat tempatan itu yang digelar Geng Minyak sangat dikehendaki polis kerana menjadikan stesen-stesen minyak di kawasan terpencil di sekitar Lembah Klang sebagai sasaran samun.

Kira-kira lima minit sebelum ditembak, tiga anggota kumpulan itu yang turut membabitkan seorang pemuda berusia 20 tahun dan rakannya berusia 22 tahun menyamun sebuah stesen minyak di Jalan Glenmarie U1/1 di sini kira-kira pukul 4.30 pagi.

Timbalan Ketua Polis Selangor, Datuk A. Thaiveegan berkata, mereka bertindak memecahkan cermin pintu stesen minyak itu sehingga mengejutkan dua pekerja warga Bangladesh yang sedang tidur.

Ujarnya, salah seorang daripada pekerja itu sempat mengunci diri di dalam stor manakala rakannya dikepung dan diugut dengan parang.

"Selepas mengambil sejumlah wang, rokok serta telefon bimbit milik seorang pekerja itu, suspek melarikan diri menaiki sebuah kereta Proton Waja yang dilaporkan hilang di Jinjang kira-kira enam bulan lalu," katanya ketika ditemui di tempat kejadian di sini semalam.

Korban Gunung Merapi meningkat

GUNUNG MERAPI, Indonesia - Angka kematian akibat satu siri letupan Gunung Merapi dekat Yogyakarta, Jawa Tengah meningkat kepada 206 orang semalam.

Gunung berapi itu mula menyembur gas panas, batu dan abu pada 26 Oktober lalu sebelum membuat letusan kuat pada minggu lalu.

Letusan terkuat berlaku pada Khamis minggu lalu yang merupakan hari yang paling dahsyat buat kalangan penduduk sekitarnya sejak beberapa dekad lalu.

Agensi Pengurusan Bencana Kebangsaan semalam menyatakan, angka kematian meningkat dari 194 kepada 206 selepas beberapa orang lagi meninggal dunia akibat masalah pernafasan, serangan jantung dan penyakit lain yang berkaitan dengan letusan Gunung Merapi.

Abu panas semakin berkurangan dari gunung berapi itu semalam tetapi pakar-pakar memberi amaran supaya penduduk sekitar menjauhi lokasi sekitarnya kerana bimbang ia akan kembali meletus. -AP

Gunung Merapi hambur awan panas

JAKARTA - Gunung Merapi di Pulau Jawa masih mengeluarkan awan panas semalam selepas letusan pertama pada 26 Oktober lalu. "Walaupun letusan semakin berkurangan, ia tidak bermakna bahawa aktiviti di gunung tersebut telah perlahan.

"Justeru kami kini mengekalkan status pada peringkat tertinggi," kata ketua sebuah agensi vulkanologi, Surono.

Jumlah kematian akibat letusan itu meningkat kepada 191 orang semalam manakala 320,000 orang terpaksa meninggalkan rumah akibat debu panas.

Bagaimanapun, beberapa syarikat penerbangan antarabangsa seperti Cathay Pasific, ValueAir dan Qantas masih membatalkan penerbangan ke Lapangan Terbang Sukarno-Hatta di Jakarta semalam.

Menurut seorang pegawai yang memantau operasi di lapangan terbang itu, Syaiful Bahri, kebimbangan mengenai debu panas memaksa beberapa penerbangan membatalkan lagi penerbangan yang mendarat dan berlepas.

Sebelum ini, beberapa syarikat penerbangan membatalkan penerbangan ke Jakarta pada minggu lalu selepas Gunung Merapi meletus dengan kuat. - Agensi

Proton Inspira kini boleh dimiliki

PETALING JAYA 10 Nov. - Proton Holdings Bhd. (Proton) hari ini melancarkan model terbaharu kereta keluarannya, Proton Inspira yang diasaskan daripada model Mitsubishi Lancer.
Proton Inspira mula dijual di semua bilik pameran Proton pada harga RM78,999 bagi model 1.8 transmisi manual, RM84,999 bagi 1.8 transmisi penghantaran berubah berterusan (CVT) automatik dan RM91,999 bagi model 2.0 CVT automatik.
Pengarah Urusan Proton, Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir berkata, produk terbaharu Proton didatangkan dengan dua varian enjin itu dilengkapkan dengan enjin berteknologi Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC).
"Sehingga hari ini, sebanyak 1,800 buah Proton Inspira telah ditempah dengan purata tempahan 100 buah sehari sejak ia diperkenalkan kepada umum 14 Oktober lalu," katanya selepas Majlis Pelancaran Proton Inspira di sini hari ini.
Majlis itu disempurnakan oleh Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
Turut hadir pada majlis itu ialah Penasihat Proton, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad dan Pengerusi, Datuk Seri Mohd. Nadzmi Mohd. Salleh.
Pada majlis itu juga seramai 11 pemilik pertama model terbaru itu menerima kunci masing-masing.
Model tersebut didatangkan dalam empat warna iaitu Plum Red, Solid White, Genetic Silver dan Tranquility Black.
Kelebihan Inspira adalah ia dilengkapi dengan CVT dan mod penukaran gear secara manual enam kelajuan dengan sistem transmisi automatik INVECS-III (sistem kawalan elektronik kenderaan pintar dan inovasi).
Bagi model standard iaitu 1.8L manual, ia dilengkapi Sistem Membrek Anti Kunci (ABS), Edaran Tenaga Membrek Elektronik (EBD), beg udara berkembar, imobilizer dan sensor undur.
Varian Eksekutif ditambah dengan mod sport tanpa paddle shift, sementara model Premium 2.0 liter CVT dilengkapi dengan mod sport, paddle shift, auto cruise, pendingin hawa automatik, sensor automatik lampu dan pengelap cermin, kit badan, empat duduk kemasan kulit dan sistem navigasi.
Bagi pelanggan yang menempah sebelum 15 November, mereka akan menerima pakej servis istimewa secara percuma selama dua tahun atau 50,000 kilometer, termasuk tiada bayaran upah dan alat ganti percuma bernilai RM1,658.

Five Reasons to Bring your Heart to Work

Take a minute right now. Get yourself a sheet of paper and a pencil or pen.

Yes, do this right now before you read on.

Then draw a tree. When you have finished your tree, you can read further.

Having done this with groups before I can tell you with some certainty what you see in front of you.

If you are like most people you will have drawn a wonderful tree from the perspective of the ground upward.

This tree has a lot in common with many people you see in workplaces all around the world. You see the tree from the ground up, and you see the physical presence of the people on the shop floor in their cubicles and offices.

Did you know that in most parts of the world the amount of biomass of the roots of a tree is at least as much as what we see above ground? In other words, when we are looking at a tree, we are literally only seeing half of it.

So it is with people. There is much more to us than what can be seen. Unfortunately too many people choose to bring their physical selves (their hands), and even their mental selves (their heads) to work (if they didn't they likely wouldn't have the job for long), but leave a huge portion – their emotional selves (their hearts) at home.

What do you bring to work everyday with you? If you don't bring your heart, you are missing tremendous opportunities. Here are five reasons why you should bring your whole self, heart included, to work each day.

You'll have more energy. We strip ourselves of a major energy stream when we disconnect our emotions when we leave for work. Our heart can provide a deep reservoir we can tap into if we have a belief in what we are doing. This doesn't have to be a one way energy flow however. When we are fully engaged in our work we have more energy to use, but more flows back to us as well.

You'll be healthier. When you bring your whole self to your efforts you will be richly repaid in more than energy alone. That energy will translate to greater health

You'll have more enthusiasm. Dale Carnegie said "act enthusiastic and you'll be enthusiastic." It is true. Enthusiasm doesn't come from our hands or head. Enthusiasm comes from our heart. Let your passions loose! Let your enthusiasm for a project show! You'll be amazed at how this can change your entire outlook and performance at work.

You'll get more done. Think about it. When do you get more done, when you look at your list of tasks and breathe a heavy sigh, or when you are jazzed about a particular project? You know the answer. What is the difference? Your heart and soul. There is no doubt that you will be more productive, alone, in a team or when leading others if you put your heart into your work.

You'll have more fun. I saved this one for last because it is something, unfortunately too many people don't even think is possible. It isn't if you only bring half your tree to work. But when you allow yourself to fully engage with your work, you will find opportunities for great enjoyment.

Am I suggesting we all become workaholics? Not at all. In fact, quite the opposite. When we bring our full selves to our work, and gain all of the benefits above we will probably not work any longer. We may work harder, but we will definitely work smarter. And we'll enjoy all of it much more.
